The part-time doctoral program in medical science (Dr. scient. med.) promotes an understanding of the methods and competencies of scientific, interdisciplinary cooperation between clinical research and basic research, familiarises students with the methods and concepts of medical science and prepares them for work in predominantly clinical, but also natural science and/or health science oriented research.

It is aimed at persons who have successfully completed a relevant university course and who wish to acquire or further develop research competence within the framework of their current or future activities. Relevant subjects are understood to be all courses of study completed whose curricula focus on imparting knowledge and skills relevant to medicine, nursing, health or the natural sciences.
