Prof. Dr. Alexander Schopper is Professor of Business Law at the Faculty of Lawof the Private University of the Principality of Liechtenstein (UFL) in Triesen.
Alexander Schopper was born in Vienna in 1976. He studied law in Vienna, Brussels and London and graduated from the University of Vienna in 1999. He then worked as an assistant at the University of Vienna, first at the Institute for Civil Law under Franz Bydlinski and then at the Institute for Business Law under Arthur Weilinger. After a research stay in China, he obtained his doctorate from the University of Vienna in 2001. In 2008, he completed his habilitation at the University of Vienna in civil law, corporate and company law, and private commercial law. After completing his court practice, Schopper worked full-time as Of Counsel for DORDA BRUGGER JORDIS Rechtsanwälte GmbH in Vienna from 2009, where he gained practical experience primarily in the following areas: corporate law, banking and capital market law, arbitration and M&A. Since 2011, Alexander Schopper has held the Chair of Corporate Law at the University of Innsbruck. Since 2012, he has been the spokesperson for the Doctoral College for Sport and Law at the University of Innsbruck and heads a basic research project on lawyer cooperation financed by the OeNB's anniversary fund. His current research projects focus on stock corporation law, leasing and contract law.
