Since when at UFL and how came to UFL

At the UFL since June 2025. As part of the collaboration between the Valens Clinics and the UFL regarding the doctoral program at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, I was able to take on the role of visiting professor at the UFL. In addition to working on the doctoral program, I will provide professional and scientific support to the doctoral students at the Valens Clinics.

 

Vita 

hmann passed the Medical School at the University of Bern (1981–1987) and got his M.D. degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bern in 1996. After the Medical School, Bachmann was trained in internal medicine, rheumatology, and physical and rehabilitation medicine (PMR) from 1988 to 1998. He has the titles of a Specialist FMH in general internal medicine, rheumatology, and PMR. In 2011, he finished his habilitation at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bern and got the title of an Associated Professor of rehabilitation medicine. Currently, Bachmann holds the position of the chief medical officer at the Kliniken Valens, Valens, Switzerland, for the disciplines musculoskelettal rehabilitation and geriatric rehabilitation.

His clinical research focuses on chronic low back pain, chronic musculoskeletal pain, and geriatric rehabilitation. He is author or co-author of many peer-reviewed papers, overview articles and book chapters. In addition to numerous poster prizes, Bachmann also received the EULAR Abstract Award at the EULAR Annual Congress in Paris in 2008 and the Von Tobel Prize for Age Research from the University of Zurich in 2012.
