Since over a decade our institute has a fruitful and intensive collaboration with Laborzentrum Dr. Risch. The collaboration focusses on the area of research and teaching. This includes joint and co-mentoring of MD and PhD students and this collaboration brought me in contact with UFL.

Prof. Dr. Harald Renz is Professor and Director of the Institute of Laboratory Medicine at the University of Marburg and the University Hospitals Giessen and Marburg GmbH. He is Honorary and Visiting Professor at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University an Co-Director of the newly founded Center of Excellence for Laboratory Medicine at KCMC in Moshi/Tanzania. He is also visiting Professor at the Tongji University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China. His research focuses on the development of non-communicable diseases (e.g. chronic lung diseases, allergies and metabolic diseases, etc.) and he recently started focusing on the impact of climate change and biodiversity on disease improvement. He has published more than 350 original research papers. His current H-factor is 111 and he has over 44.400 citations in scientific publications (https://scholar.google.com/, April 2026). His D-index is 103, he currently ranks 370th in the medical sciences in Germany (source Research.com, 2025).
